Nobel Prize for Physiology & Medicine goes to Cancer Therapy
Won by James P. Allison (U.S.) shared with Tasuku Honjo (Japan) has led to treatments for advanced, deadly skin cancer. Awarded on 1st October 2018. Physiology & Medicine is the first Nobel prize awarded every year. The 2018 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to National Institutes of Health grantee James P. Allison , Ph.D., of the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas. Dr. Allison shares the prize with Tasuku Honjo , M.D., Ph.D., of Kyoto University Institute, Japan, for their discovery of cancer therapy by inhibition of negative immune regulation.
